2.0 (2018) MOVIE REVIEW HIT or FLOP
2.0 (2018) MOVIE REVIEW
✒️2.0 The most awaited film of the year finally released after 3 years of pre-production.2.0 is the first 3D science fiction flick in Tamil Cinema and it is the most expensive indian film ever made with an exorbitant budget of ₹550 crores. Ever since the film was announced there's been lots of speculation about this film which was trending in all social network till date. 2.0 set a new benchmark and surpassed all the previous records in Indian film industry. Director Shankar style of presentation will always be a mega size project and 2.0 is much bigger than that and it is even technically well advanced compare to the former projects.Shankar adopted Fantasy-SciFi plot which is quite new for Tamil Cinema. Kudos to Nirav Shah for his unmatched work behind the camera which transforms Shankar's vivid imagination into reality. All the 3D Shots are world-class and it is nothing lesser than the Hollywood style of film making. The detailing of the objects used for 3D shots are very carefully chosen to give a perfect 3D viewing experience for the audience. In terms of content for a Science Fiction lots of scientific terminologies such as Aura, Fifth force, electron equation etc. are used to convince the audience. However, Cell Phones flying all over the sky and self destructive revenge scenes are beyond SciFi and it is rather Fantasy. Shankar's humangoes effort and dedication need to be appreciated and encouraged for his intend to raise the bar for indian cinema. The crux of the film is built around the Pakshinathan character played by Akshay Kumar.Though Akshay have very less screen space in the first half the entire plot was revolving around his character. Infact, there is a moral dilemma between Chitti and Pakshinathan to display who is fighting for good and who is depraving for evil. Super Star gave his best to lift this film to international standard and who would play this extravaganza role other than SuperStar Rajinikanth. Four different Rajnikanth characters are shown till the end and in all roles he had shown that subtle variation. Audience would certainly love the Robot 2.0 and 3.0 Kutti Minibots whereas Dr.Vasikaran and Chitti characters are redundant from Enthiran. Owing to his health condition and age few stunts look over rated but people who love Rajinism and his unique style will still rate them high. Akshay Kumar plays the perfect Antagonist role without compromising on the screen space. Shankar always rope in strong antagonist role to fight against the Larger than Life Hero and Akshay Kumar is the perfect choice to fight against the Mighty SuperStar. Amy Jackson played the Humanoid role which perfectly fit the bill as she emote very less facial expression while performing. Avatar fame Sean Foot deserve a special mention who take care of make-up for Rajnikanth and Akshay. Both are equally world-class standards but Akshay's bird look make-up is something new and we have not seen such character in Kollywood. Stunts and action sequences are world-class quality. Due to ageing factor Rajnikanth cannot move fast as before but Kenny Bates somehow managed to create that wow factor on screen in the second half. Kenny Bates worked in Hollywood for Transformers which is quite evident in the climax portion. Background scores and Sound mixing are again world-class standard and AR.Rahman terrified with his BGM for the action sequences. Antony must have spent long hours with 3D glasses to edit the 3D version. On the flipside, there are quite a lot of logical flaws but you can still discount them if you treat this film as a Fantasy SciFi. First half is quite engaging and interesting but second half is full of VFX and computer graphics which is rather exhaustive for a common audience. Too much of anything is too bad which is quite evident in the VFX and CGIs. It gives an artificial feeling for the audience. Overall, 2.0 cannot be missed for it's technicalities and star cast so don't miss the 3D version. Rating - 3.5 out of 5 🌟🌟🌟ðŸŒ
